About the Role

As a tax accountant at Knies & Co, you will be helping female entrepreneurs save and earn more money via a multitude of avenues.

You’ll be responsible for typical tax preparation and review services but also tax strategy, monthly bookkeeping & financial reporting, client consultations, etc. - all of which have a direct impact on helping our clients achieve their goals. Some specific responsibilities include:

  • Recording financial transactions for multiple client accounts, which includes establishing accounts; posting transactions; and ensuring legal compliance.

  • Preparing client bank reconciliations.

  • Maintaining client financial records by organizing & filing digital documents.

  • Preparing monthly client financial reports by set deadlines

  • Calculating client quarterly estimated federal + state tax obligations

  • Preparing and/or reviewing federal + state individual income tax returns (for Schedule C + Schedule E clients)

  • Preparing and/or reviewing partnership + S Corporation tax returns

  • Preparing & filing state sales tax returns

  • Preparing client annual 1099 forms by set deadlines

  • Preparing tax projections

  • Resolving payroll tax issues on client accounts

This will be a full-time, work-from-home position with a flexible schedule. Estimated hours are 40/hrs per week during tax season and 20-25 hours per week during the off-season.

What You Need to Succeed

  • At least 3 years of experience preparing individual income tax returns (with Schedules C and E) and business tax returns (Forms 1065 + 1120-S)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • CPA preferred but not required

  • Experience with QuickBooks Online

  • Above-average organization skills + attention to detail

  • Self-motivation

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Ability to successfully work independently in a virtual environment

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex topics in easy-to-understand language

  • Passion for helping female entrepreneurs and building client relationships

  • Ability to work increased hours from January - end of tax season (April 15th)
